Bachelor of Architecture

Architects play a key role in the design and production of the built environment. Those who focus on design are commissioned by clients to lead the work of many experts who need to keep buildings and places together. Architects while playing this leadership role ensure that the end product is architecturally meaningful while meeting the functional requirements of the accused. Many architects avoid taking on this expansionary leadership role and prefer to focus on some aspect of the built environment instead. Others avoid design altogether and focus on the study and critique of the built environment in a dialect to enrich architectural discourse. Still others choose to work continuously with disadvantaged communities to improve living conditions.

Professional architects can build careers as architects working within architectural firms, with architects working within firms, as academics have focused on teaching and research, or within non-governmental organizations. In India, the architecture profession is regulated by the Council of Architecture (COA), which was established by the Parliament through the Architects Act, 1972.
