JEE Paper 2- B.Arch & B.Planning

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) B.Arch. (Paper 2) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to the 5-year program of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) & Bachelor of Planning (B. Planning) at top architecture colleges such as IITs, NITs, SPAs, and other centrally funded institutions.

The JEE Main 2026 Paper 2 examination shall be conducted in two sessions: Session 1 between January 21, 2026, and January 30, 2026, and Session 2 between April 2, 2026, and April 9, 2026. The examinations will be held in notified cities at the allotted centres.

The JEE – B.Arch exam is conducted in a hybrid mode and consists of three parts:

B.Arch Exam Pattern

Part I: Mathematics (Computer-Based Test – 100 Marks)

• Section A: 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
• Section B: 5 Numerical Value Questions (answers to be entered as numerical values using the on-screen virtual numeric keypad, rounded off to the nearest integer)

Part II: Aptitude Test (Computer-Based Test – 200 Marks)

• Total Questions: 50
• Question types include MCQs and numerical value question

Part III: Drawing Test (Offline Mode – 100 Marks)

• Total Questions: 2
• To be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size in pen and paper-based (offline) mode

Note: Negative marking applies to Part I and Part II only. Each correct answer carries +4 marks, and each incorrect answer carries -1 mark. No negative marking for the Drawing Test.

The JEE – B.Plan exam is conducted in Online mode (Computer Based Test) and consists of three parts:

Important Notes for JEE (Paper 2) 2026

1. The JEE Main 2026 Paper 2 registration fee is non-refundable in all cases. Processing charges and GST are applicable as applicable are chargeable from the candidate (in addition to the examination fee) by the concerned Bank/Payment Gateway Integrator.

1. Candidates can apply for Session 1 (January 2026) and later apply separately for Session 2 (April 2026) using the same application number.
2. Multiple applications submitted by the same candidate will be rejected without refund, and the result may be cancelled

The application is to be filled ONLINE through the JEE Main portal. Candidates need to register, create a password, and access the online application form. All mandatory fields must be filled carefully.

Steps for the Application Process:

Step 1: Registration

• Register on the online portal and note down the system-generated Application Number.
• Create a PASSWORD and choose a Security Question with its answer.
• The Application Number will be used for completing remaining steps and for all future correspondence.
• For subsequent logins, use the Application Number and created password.

Step 2: Filling Up the Application Form

• Log in with the Application Number and password.
• Enter personal details, choose examination paper and cities, and provide educational qualification details.
• Upload required documents in the specified format:
  • Recent passport-size photograph (colour, 80% face visible including ears, white background) – JPG/JPEG format, 10-200 KB
  • Signature – JPG/JPEG format, 10-100 KB
  • Class X Certificate/Marksheet – PDF format, 50-300 KB
  • Identity Proof (if not using Aadhaar/DigiLocker) – JPG/JPEG format, 10-200 KB
  • PwD/Disability Certificate (if applicable) – PDF format, 50-300 KB
• Capture live photograph using webcam or scan QR code with mobile device.

Step 3: Fee Payment

• Pay the application fee through online mode (Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI).
• Processing charges and GST as applicable will be added to the examination fee.
• After successful payment, download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.

Issue of Admit Card

• Once the application is successfully submitted and fees paid, an Admit Card will be generated.
• This will include details such as test date, examination centre, session timing, and application number.
• Candidates must download and print the Admit Card, as it is mandatory for appearing in the examination.

Allocation of Examination Centre

• Candidates will be allotted an examination centre based on their preference and availability.
• The details of the examination centre address and reporting time will be mentioned on the Admit Card.
• It is advised to reach the allocated centre well in advance before the exam.

Declaration of Results

• The result will be declared on the official NTA website as per the schedule.
• Candidates can check their scores by logging in with their Application Number and password.
• The scorecard will include section-wise and overall NTA scores.

Important Instructions about PASSWORD:

• Password must be 8 to 13 characters long.
• Must contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one numeric value, and one special character (!@#$%^&*-).
• Do not share your password with anyone. NTA will not be responsible for password misuse.
• Remember to log out after each session to prevent unauthorized access.

Password Reset Options:

• Using Security Question and Answer chosen during registration
• Using verification code sent via SMS to registered mobile number
• Using reset link sent via email to registered email address

Note: Candidates must upload their own photograph, signature, and certificates correctly. No correction facility will be provided later. Any misuse or tampering will be treated as Unfair Means Practice and appropriate action will be taken.

Normalization of Scores for JEE (Multi-Shift Papers)

The scores for JEE conducted in multiple shifts shall be determined through a Normalization Procedure based on Percentile Scores.

As the examination is conducted across multiple dates and shifts with different question papers, minor variations in the level of difficulty are inevitable. To ensure a fair and uniform evaluation, and to ensure that no candidate is either advantaged or disadvantaged due to the shift in which they appear, normalization based on percentile scores shall be applied.

The normalization of JEE scores shall be governed by the following rules:

• The performance of candidates shall be evaluated shift-wise.
• The raw marks obtained by a candidate shall be converted into a Percentile Score.
• The Percentile Score indicates the percentage of candidates in the same shift who have scored equal to or less than that candidate.
• The highest-scoring candidate in each shift shall be awarded a Percentile Score of 100.
• Percentile Scores shall be calculated up to seven decimal places to avoid bunching of scores and reduce ties.
• The Percentile Score shall be treated as the Normalized Score and shall be used for the preparation of merit lists.
• Raw marks obtained by candidates shall not be considered for ranking purposes.

The Percentile Score shall be calculated using the following method:

• Percentile Score
  = 100 × (Number of candidates in the shift scoring equal to or less than the candidate)
  ÷ (Total number of candidates who appeared in that shift)

NOTE:

• The overall Percentile Score shall not be an aggregate or average of subject-wise percentiles.
• The Percentile Score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.
• Final rankings and merit lists shall be prepared strictly based on the normalized percentile scores

The admission process for B.Arch programmes through JEE Main Paper 2 is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates who qualify JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch) and fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria can participate in JoSAA counselling to secure admission in architecture programmes offered by NITs, SPAs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).Key Steps in the Admission Process:

1. Appear for JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch) conducted by NTA.
2. Check JEE Main Paper 2 Rank – All India Rank (AIR) is used for seat allocation.
3. Register on JoSAA Portal within the announced counselling schedule.
4. Choice Filling & Locking – Select preferred institutes and programmes.
5. Seat Allotment – Seats are allotted based on rank, category, preferences, and seat availability.
6. Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment – Candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee online.
7. Document Verification – Conducted online or at reporting centres.
8. Final Reporting to the Allotted Institute for admission confirmation.

• JoSAA conducts multiple rounds of counselling, including mock and final rounds.
• Admission is strictly based on JEE Main Paper 2 rank; no separate entrance exam is conducted by these institutes.

• State quota and category reservations are applicable as per Government norms.
