Details of NATA 2025 Sections 

 

Part A- Drawing and Composition Test 

In the NATA architecture exam, this section is a one-and-a-half-hour (90-minute) 80-mark test. This section comprises three questions: 

A1- Composition & Colour (25 marks): This section involves creating suitable compositions for different situations and colouring them properly. It includes re-arranging different shapes in visually appealing order & colouring them properly. 

A2- Sketching & Composition (Black & White 25 marks): Proficiency in drawing, visualizing, and depicting a situation involving building/their components, environment, people, and products with an understanding of scale, textures, proportions, shadows, etc. 

A3- 3D Composition (30 marks): This involves creating an interesting 3D composition for a given situation & provided kit. 

 

Part B- MCQ & NCQ Test 

 

This is a one and half hour (90 minutes) 120 marks, it comprises the following types of questions: 

  • Visual Reasoning: Evaluates the ability to understand & reconstruct 2D & 3D composition, knowledge of its composition & technical knowledge. 
  • Logical Derivation: Asses the ability to decode a situation, composition, context and generate the meaning. Understanding the meaning of information hidden in a particular situation and drawing conclusions. 
  • G.K.Awareness & Design: Assesses general awareness of architecture and design, current affairs, recent episodes, historical progression, knowledge about important buildings, and innovation in materials & construction technology. 
  • Language Interpretation: Evaluates the ability to correctly and logically generate the meaning of words and sentences and understand English grammar. 
  • Design Sensitivity and Thinking: Tests the ability to observe, record, and analyze people, space, products, and environment. Also tests critical thinking, reasoning & ability to identify subtle communications. Ability to understand semantics, metaphors, problem identification & definition, and analysis of a given situation. 
  • Numerical Ability: Assess basic Mathematics & its association with creative thinking, as well as the ability to unfold a space using geometry.
