Bachelor of Urban Design
Indian economic development and urbanization lead to rapid expansion of cities. For cities to provide habitable housing to their residents, design interventions are necessary. But the types of design problems that Indian cities face are not tied to a site or an individual, but rather lie at the crossroads of the political landscape, social and cultural relationships, and economic dynamics that make up a city. Are associated with physical landscapes and systems. The lack of coordination between these systems is most evident in the neglect of space in the public sector. With a diversity of issues tailored to the city landscape, the Indian urban landscape requires a group of design professionals who are trained for design complexities in the public sector.
The program gives students a professional training that equips them to work as designers in the public sector and to analyze the urban environment, its systems and its multiple scales. They will be taught knowledge of the legal framework required to work in the public sector, as well as design skills and use of specific analytical tools. It is a new approach to design education that is specifically adapted to the urban sector, and cities in urban India with innovative and cross-disciplinary thinking and ways to encourage solutions to those problems And brings together the study of design.
